Introducing

Bespoke Eternity Rings by Mike Shorer

Eternity rings mark moments of continuity — anniversaries, family milestones, or significant chapters in a shared life. Unlike engagement or wedding rings, they are often commissioned later, with greater design freedom and a clearer sense of personal meaning.

Mike Shorer designs and hand-crafts bespoke eternity rings using traditional goldsmithing techniques and carefully selected precious materials. Whether set with diamonds or coloured gemstones, or left as a sculptural band, each ring is designed with proportion, comfort, and longevity in mind. The emphasis is always on refinement and wearability, ensuring the ring integrates naturally with existing jewellery while standing confidently on its own.

Commissioning an Eternity Ring

Commissioning a bespoke eternity ring begins with an understanding of what the ring represents. Mike works closely with each client to explore symbolism, scale, stone choice, and how the ring will be worn alongside engagement and wedding bands. Designs may range from classic full or half-set eternity rings to more contemporary interpretations incorporating texture, engraving, or unusual stone arrangements.

Every eternity ring is made entirely by hand in Mike’s East Sussex studio. Clients may choose from platinum or high-carat golds, and heirloom diamonds or gemstones can often be reworked into a new design. Each piece is crafted to fit perfectly and withstand daily wear, resulting in a ring that quietly commemorates a moment while remaining timeless in character.

Selected Eternity Ring Commissions

Diamond & Sapphire Eternity Ring (Platinum)

This platinum eternity ring is set with alternating diamonds and sapphires, demonstrating how a full-set eternity design can incorporate any gemstone combination. Rings with stones set all the way around require careful consideration for comfort and durability, and are engineered to balance visual impact with everyday wear.

Five-Stone Diamond Eternity Ring (Modern Interpretation)

A contemporary take on the classic five-stone eternity ring, this design features five perfectly matched oval brilliant-cut diamonds set at a slight angle, each separated by just 0.3mm. The precise spacing creates exceptional light play while maintaining a strong visual rhythm across the finger.

Cushion-Cut Diamond with Eternity Band

This cushion-cut diamond ring in 18-carat yellow gold is paired with a delicately proportioned eternity band, illustrating how softer stone shapes work particularly well with refined, understated eternity designs.

Square Profile Heirloom Diamond Ring (Reframed as Milestone Piece)

Although originally commissioned using family-owned old-cut diamonds, this tapered square-profile ring is shown here as an example of how heirloom stones can be reworked into milestone jewellery beyond engagement — including anniversary or eternity-style commissions.

Halo Diamond Ring (Statement Eternity Context)

This dramatic ring — a central 2-carat brilliant-cut diamond surrounded by a halo of small brilliants, two trilliant-cut diamonds on the shoulders and further brilliants around the shank — is included here to show how high-impact designs can also mark significant anniversaries or personal milestones, not solely engagements.

Sapphire & Diamond Eternity-Style Ring (Platinum)

It’s fun to use a strikingly coloured centre stone, highlighted by two or more diamonds. The client wanted a facetted, cushion-cut sapphire which we sourced from Sri Lanka. Flanked by two princess-cut diamonds, this stunning ring was set in platinum. While coloured stones are often associated with engagement rings, they are equally powerful when commissioned as eternity rings to mark a personal or family milestone.

Sculptural Eternity Band with Pear-Cut Diamond

This 1.75-carat pear-shaped diamond is perfectly set in a hand-made scallop-sided platinum collet, allowing more light to enter from the sides of the gemstone. The wedding band is a hand-carved platinum sculpture that follows the sides of the engagement ring.

Platinum Engagement Ring

This example demonstrates how platinum can be shaped to flow around offset gems in an engagement ring.

Diamond Flower Cluster Ring

Cluster designs are often associated with mid-20th-century jewellery, but they remain popular as anniversary or eternity pieces. This flower-style diamond cluster offers impact while remaining versatile enough for both day and evening wear.

Diamond-Set Wedding & Eternity Band

This diamond-set band shows how eternity rings can add sparkle without overpowering existing jewellery. Matched princess-cut diamonds are set partway around the shank for comfort and practicality.

Complementary Eternity & Court Bands

Shown together are a diamond-set eternity band paired with a classic court-shaped ring, demonstrating how contrast between ornamented and plain bands can be both timeless and effective.

Paired Eternity Rings with Shared Motifs

In this example, subtle design language links both partners’ rings. Four princess-cut diamonds are set in heart-topped claws in one band, while the partner’s ring echoes the geometry with an engraved offset line and a discreet central diamond.

Continuing the Conversation

Many eternity ring commissions naturally grow from earlier engagement or wedding ring designs, or draw inspiration from pieces created for different moments in a relationship. Further examples of bespoke rings — including more sculptural, statement-led, and heirloom designs — can be found in the Engagement Rings section. These may help spark ideas and demonstrate the breadth of approaches possible when commissioning a one-of-a-kind ring.
