A legacy of craftsmanship
Jewellery making runs deep in the Shorer family. As a seventh-generation jeweller, Mike was introduced to the craft from an early age, learning traditional skills passed down through generations of goldsmiths.
Mike went on to train at the renowned Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, before building a career that took him to the very top of the industry. He worked as a workshop manager for Theo Fennell in London, producing fine jewellery for prestigious clients including Harrods, Tiffany & Co. (New York), and Mitsukoshi (Japan).
In 1990, Mike founded Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery, later relocating the studio to Newhaven, East Sussex, where every piece is still made by hand using time-honoured techniques.
Jewellery with meaning
At the heart of Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery is a belief that jewellery should be personal, meaningful, and made to last. Whether creating an engagement ring, a family heirloom, or a memorial piece, Mike works closely with each client to ensure their jewellery tells a story and can be treasured for generations.
Clients are welcome to arrive with a clear idea or simply an initial concept — the design process is always collaborative, personal, and unhurried.
Giving back: charity & community
Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery is proud to support charitable causes, particularly True Heroes Racing, which supports wounded, injured, and sick UK service personnel and veterans through motorsport and recovery programmes.
Mike regularly contributes his skills by creating bespoke trophies and awards to support the charity's fundraising and awareness, combining craftsmanship with a commitment to giving back.
Beyond charity work, Mike is deeply involved in the local business community and currently serves as President of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce, championing independent businesses, craftsmanship, and economic growth in East Sussex.
