Introducing

Cremation Jewellery by Mike Shorer

Mike Shorer Fine Jewellery has been designing and making bespoke cremation jewellery for many years, creating deeply personal memorial pieces that honour loved ones with dignity, sensitivity, and exceptional craftsmanship. Each commission is individually designed to appear as a beautiful piece of fine jewellery — discreet and elegant, with its deeper meaning known only to those who choose to share it.

Ashes may be incorporated into specially coloured translucent enamel, allowing subtle texture and depth to emerge within the finished piece. Hair or pet fur can also be included if preferred. Colours are chosen collaboratively, and the translucency of the enamel ensures the contents remain gently visible without overwhelming the design.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Each piece is made entirely by hand using precious metals, traditional goldsmithing techniques, and specialist enamelling. Mike works closely with one of the UK’s leading resin enamel artists to create rings, pendants, bangles, bracelets, earrings, and cufflinks using this refined process.

The ashes are handled with the utmost care and respect at every stage. Many clients have described the commissioning process as cathartic and find comfort in carrying a physical connection to their loved one — a presence that is both private and enduring.

Platinum Amethyst Ring with Hidden Ash Compartment

This platinum ring features a high cabochon amethyst, beneath which sits a discreet internal compartment containing the client’s husband’s ashes, sealed in clear enamel. Designed so that the compartment rests gently against the finger when worn, the piece offers a deeply personal and private connection, while presenting outwardly as an elegant fine jewellery ring.

Sterling Silver Enamel Bangle

A sterling silver bangle into which Prussian blue enamel, containing cremation ash, has been carefully inlaid. The depth of colour and translucency of the enamel allows the material to be present without overt visibility, resulting in a refined and wearable memorial piece.

Tree of Life Ring

This ring features a ‘Tree of Life’ motif, hand-carved into a wide solid silver band to allow for the detailed depiction of a spreading oak. The design may also be commissioned in yellow, white, or rose gold, and adapted to incorporate enamel or memorial elements where desired.

Personalisation & Engraving

Cremation jewellery commissions may be further personalised with engraved names, dates, or short messages. I can engrave exact facsimiles of handwritten signatures or messages, preserving the character of the original hand.

Fingerprint engraving is also available, either oxidised to create a strong dark contrast or inlaid with coloured enamel, depending on the desired effect. These details are always incorporated with restraint, ensuring the finished piece remains refined and wearable.

Clear Enamel Memorial Jewellery

Clear enamel is often chosen for cremation jewellery, as it produces a natural, earth-toned appearance while allowing the material within to remain visible. Clients may also select any colour or combination of colours, depending on personal preference and the overall design.

Memorial Pet Ash Bangle

This heavy silver bangle was commissioned to hold the ashes of a beloved dog, discreetly inlaid on the inside of the piece. The exterior is engraved with the map coordinates of the beach where the client and his dog walked together. Dates, names, poems, and personal tributes may also be engraved to commemorate cherished pets.

Family Memorial Jewellery Set

Created as a family commission, this group of pieces incorporates teal-coloured enamel containing ashes across several designs, including angel wing and Tree of Life pendants, a stylised heart ring set with heirloom diamonds, and an eternity-style ring. The pieces were created in silver, though all colours and carats of gold are available.

Commissioning Cremation Jewellery

Every cremation jewellery piece is a one-off commission, designed in response to the individual, the story, and the materials entrusted to my care. There is no catalogue or template, each design begins with a conversation.

All commissions are handled with absolute discretion and created in my East Sussex studio.

If you would like to discuss commissioning a piece of cremation jewellery, please get in touch to arrange a private consultation.

Diamond and Enamel Memorial Ring

This bespoke ring was designed using diamonds from the client’s mother’s engagement ring, combined with her favourite colour — pink — in the enamel. The result is a piece that blends inherited materials with personal symbolism, creating continuity across generations.

Silver Ring with Opalescent Enamel and Mica

This silver ring features a flowing swirl of opalescent blue enamel, enhanced with fine mica, often referred to as ‘moondust’, to introduce a subtle astral sparkle. The result is a luminous surface that shifts gently in the light, offering a poetic and understated memorial.

Green Enamel Memorial Ring

Commissioned as a tribute to a lifelong love of cricket, this ring incorporates lush green translucent enamel, chosen to evoke the colour of perfectly kept grass. The enamel allows the material beneath to remain visible, creating depth and meaning through colour symbolism.

Claret and Blue Enamel Memorial Ring

This commission reflects the client’s husband’s devotion to West Ham United, using translucent claret and blue enamel to contain the ashes. Achieving clarity and balance with multiple colours is technically demanding but allows for highly personal and specific colour combinations.

Gold Paw Print Memorial Ring

This gold ring was designed in the form of a dog’s paw. Ashes were placed within the smaller pads, while the dog’s fur was carefully twisted into an infinity symbol and set into the central pad. A deeply symbolic piece celebrating enduring companionship.

Angel Wing and Heart Pendant

One of my most frequently requested designs, this pendant features an angel’s wing resting gently against a heart. The design can be created in any precious metal and finished with enamel in any colour.

Angel Wing Collection with Purple Enamel

Purple enamel is a popular choice, offering striking contrast against silver or yellow gold. Shown here are variations including the angel wing and heart pendant, a signet ring with enamel set inside the head, and an eternity-style ring, demonstrating how a single colour story can be interpreted across multiple forms.

Multicolour Eternity Ring

This eternity-style ring was commissioned to reflect the vibrant personality of the client’s father. Swirls of purple, aquamarine blue, and cerise enamel were combined to create a colourful and expressive memorial, unique to the individual it commemorates.

Dual Memorial Rings

This commission was created for a mother wishing to remember both her husband and her father. One piece features a handmade marquise-pattern cloisonné blush pink enamel and moondust silver eternity ring, while the second is a white gold ring with two intertwined eternity designs, inspired by a bracelet the client admired. A layered and meaningful family tribute.
